Julie is pleased to announce her Summer 2009 camp schedule. All camps meet once a week for 5 weeks. All classes last for 45 minutes, except Tell Me a Tale, which lasts for 60 minutes.
Peek-A-Boo! I Love You! ~ Parents and babies newborn to 18 months
Games like “peek-a-boo” help babies understand language. In this class, uncover more ways to say “I love you” using American Sign Language, soap bubbles, and parent-baby dances. Plus, parents can meet with other newborns and families in the community and learn how music improves the child development process. Home Materials include: CD, board book, poster, duck wash mitt, and a baby duck Gertie ball.

Marvelous Me ~ Parents and children ages 18 months to 3 1/2 years
We will engage in songs, chants, and activities about all of the things your toddlers can do with their rapidly developing bodies. We will do activities with partners and share instruments to build social skills. Through engaging songs, rhymes, and movements, we will learn to recognize and anticipate repeated patterns. Home Materials include: CD, Family magazine with activities and story, and a set of box shakers.

Jazz Kitchen ~ Preschoolers ages 3 1/2 to 5 years
Come on in as we bring jazz into the kitchen! We will explore food in many dimensions-grocery shopping, chopping, dicing, and cooking-all to the sounds and rhythms of jazz. We will experience quarter- and eighth-note rhythms with our hands, our bodies, and a keyboard. Families join us the last 10 minutes of each class. Home Materials include: CD, Family magazine with activities and story, and 2-tone woodblock.

Tell Me a Tale ~ 5- and 6-year-olds entering grades K-1
Through storytelling, we’ll develop an early awareness of rhythm, movement, singing, and drama. Each lesson features a new tale from around the world, explored through multi-instrument and multi-cultural elements. All told, we will have an around-the-imagination adventure of the greatest stories from Europe, Malaysia, South Africa, and more. Home Materials include: CD, Tell Me a Tale book, poster, and pair of lummi sticks.
Begins July 9 ~ Thu 6:45 p.m.Tuition & materials: $95
Splash ~ Parents and children ages newborn to 7 years
Join us as we sing, dance and explore everything fun about water, including baths, oceans, beaches, boats, and more! We will experience songs, chants, and instruments that will help your older children learn patterns of 3’s. We will learn the terms legato and staccato by singing and playing in smooth and bumps ways. Home Materials include: CD, Family magazine with activities and story, beach ball, and 2 fish shakers.
Begins July 8 ~ Wed 5:45 p.m.Tuition & materials: 1 child – $65; 2 children – $105; 3 or more children – $140
Free tuition for children born after 2/28/2009
Priority enrollment for currently enrolled families begins April 6. Online open enrollment begins April 27 on Julie’s website. All classes are held at Leigh’s School of Dance in Olathe. Payment is due at enrollment, and is accepted by cash, check, or credit card. Enroll by June 1 and get $5 off! In addition, there is a $10 discount for siblings who enroll in the same session.
