Last week, I had the opportunity to spread the word about my Kindermusik program at the Blue Valley Parents as Teachers annual Resource Fair. You can probably guess that the fair included all kinds of activities to benefit children, including preschool, dance, movement, and (of course!) music programs. As I was setting up my table, I met a wonderful couple at the table next to mine who were doing something very different. The information below is from their literature:
Amy and Randy Davis have created Inspiring Moms, whose mission is to “promote stronger and healthier families by raising the success and happiness of moms in their most important job.” Amy and Randy believe that being a mom is one of the most significant and challenging jobs a woman will ever have. However, most moms are not prepared for the job, and learn by trial and error. Inspiring Moms addresses 5 areas that are most important to a mom’s success and happiness:
- Personal wellness
- Strong relationship with her partner
- Effective parenting
- Support systems
- Home management
These are covered in a 3-hour seminar entitled Success & Happiness 101. Amy and Randy use their own experiences (they have 7 children) and research on family wellness. The cost for the seminar is $99, and includes a personal assessment of strengths and opportunities within the 5 areas above. You can contact Amy Davis at amy@inspiringmoms.com to register for an upcoming seminar.
Our society is always sending messages to moms that they need to take care of their families and homes first, and take care of themselves last. Is it any wonder that moms sometimes feel exhausted, uncertain, and/or guilty? When was the last time you said you loved being a mom and really meant it? (Saying it because you think you’re expected to doesn’t count!) Wouldn’t it be great if moms felt happy, confident, and (dare I say it) well-rested? Wouldn’t their families be a lot happier? I really believe that this is a refreshing idea whose time has come!
Have a great week!
